Hamilton Bradshaw Group

The opportunity

At Hamilton Bradshaw, we’re looking for a Head of Performance Excellence to join one of our portfolio businesses: an ambitious recruitment firm with plans to grow by 50% over the next three years. Over the past three years, it has moved from generalist recruitment towards a premium, partnership-led position, working on mid-to-senior appointments across Finance & Accountancy, Technology, Executive and Engineering. It has also expanded from its Midlands offices into London and Frankfurt.

The business already ranks in the top quartile for consultant productivity against the UK recruitment sector, and 93% of its consultants beat their personal best within two years of joining. The next step is to make that development more structured and consistent across the business, with someone dedicated to helping consultants make the most of their time and reach their next level of performance.

The role

This is a newly created role within the portfolio business, reporting to its senior leadership team. Full-time or part-time considered.

You’ll turn consultant development into a structured, consistent approach tied directly to billings. You’ll design and deliver it yourself, spot where people and teams are getting stuck, and work with the leadership team, CRM team, managers and individual consultants to embed improvements in day-to-day working.

This suits someone who wants to make an immediate impact in a growing business and take ownership of building a new function.

What you'll be doing

  • Designing and delivering training programmes that move consultants to their next level of performance, however successful they already are
  • Helping the business strengthen its premium market position, with consultants valued as partners to clients beyond filling individual roles
  • Spotting opportunities to develop individuals and teams, and acting on them without waiting to be asked
  • Working with the management team to identify what is holding back growth and implement solutions that help managers scale their teams
  • Supporting the business’s AI rollout, already underway, by building skills, sharing best practice and encouraging ongoing experimentation
  • Identifying ways to improve processes and working with colleagues to put those changes into practice
  • Measuring what is working and linking it to consultant earnings and business productivity, the two metrics you will ultimately be accountable for

What we're looking for

  • You’ve worked in a medium to large, well-structured business and are comfortable reviewing, improving and rolling out processes. You know how to make them useful and practical
  • You can make new ways of working engaging and relevant to consultants, adapting your style to different people and teams
  • You’re AI-savvy, curious about the tools, quick to pick them up and confident helping others do the same
  • You have a coach’s instinct and care about helping individuals achieve their personal best, however much they have already accomplished
  • You’re as comfortable working alongside a consultant at their desk as you are with the senior leadership team
  • You enjoy travel and understand the value of being visible across a business with four UK offices and one in Germany

Why this role

This is an opportunity to shape a new function in a business with ambitious growth plans. You’ll have the scope to design the approach, deliver it and see the impact directly in consultant performance and business results.

The goal is to help the business grow productively and profitably while keeping employee engagement high: consultants earning more, in a business they want to stay in. If you enjoy developing high-performing people and turning that into commercial results, we’d like to hear from you.

Location

UK, flexible, ideally based in the Midlands. Regular travel to the business’s offices in Birmingham, East Midlands, London, Manchester and Frankfurt is essential. You’ll need to be visible and present across the teams to make an impact.
