Reed Education are working in partnership with a successful and well-established secondary school in Birmingham to recruit two Site Supervisors to join their facilities team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced caretaker, premises officer, site supervisor, or maintenance professional seeking a long-term role within education, with genuine potential to secure a permanent position.

You will become part of a supportive three-person site team, reporting directly to the Senior Site Supervisor, helping to ensure the school provides a safe, secure, clean, and well-maintained environment for students, staff, and visitors.

The Role

The successful candidates will be responsible for the day-to-day operation, security, maintenance, and presentation of the school site.

Duties will include:

• Opening and locking the school premises.
• Acting as a keyholder and responding to security requirements.
• Carrying out routine site inspections and health and safety checks.
• Undertaking general maintenance and minor repairs, including basic plumbing, carpentry, decorating, and DIY tasks.
• Supervising and supporting cleaning staff.
• Monitoring cleaning standards across the school.
• Liaising with contractors and monitoring maintenance works.
• Managing deliveries and site supplies.
• Maintaining school grounds, pathways, entrances, and outdoor areas.
• Operating heating and hot water systems.
• Moving furniture and equipment as required.
• Replenishing consumables and maintaining stock levels.
• Supporting emergency procedures and responding to site issues when required.

Working Pattern

The school operates a rotating shift pattern consisting of:

• Early Shift
• Middle Shift
• Late Shift

Candidates must be available to work between:

5:45am and 6:30pm, Monday to Friday

Due to the shift patterns, a full UK driving licence is essential.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

• Has previous experience as a Site Supervisor, Caretaker, Premises Officer, Facilities Assistant, Maintenance Operative, or similar.
• Is confident carrying out general maintenance and repair tasks.
• Has a good understanding of health and safety procedures.
• Can work independently and as part of a team.
• Takes pride in maintaining high standards.
• Has excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Has previous school or education sector experience (desirable but not essential).
• Holds a full UK driving licence.
