PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £32,400 - £44,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Operations Team in Birmingham provides technical services to our daily regional news output including Midlands Today, the regional Politics Show programme and supports programming on other BBC platforms. We are looking for a Senior Operator to join our multi-skilled team.
Our Operations team provide a variety of key services including location shoot editing of our news packages, hub operations, editing, vision and sound mixing, directing, graphics design, satellite truck operations and more.

Your Key Responsibilities And Impact
- You will be able to demonstrate a high level of location filming, lighting and editing skills in a variety of demanding environments with the ability to produce on the day packages.
- Be able to deliver live broadcasts using bonded cellular technology or with our satellite truck team, this will include assistance in rigging outside broadcasts
- You will be able to demonstrate that you have a high level of team working and communication skills.
- You will also have at least one relevant operational skill that may include studio directing, sound or vision mixing, media hub operations and more.
- You will support television and our online services, as well as support radio where appropriate.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Shoot and edit skills, including the ability to be creative in all your work
- Be able to direct shoots
- Good working knowledge and understanding of risk assessments and safe working
- Have excellent team working, problem solving and communication skills
- Ideally you will have at least one of the following skills, and be prepared to multi-skill as necessary:
- Sound mixing
- Vision mixing
- Media management
- Floor managing experience
- Experience of studio directing
