Countywide Assessor - #1707158
Rethink Mental Illness

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Countywide Assessor to work as part of our Gloucestershire Mental Health and Wellbeing Service Team.
Fixed Term Contract until 31-Jul-2026
Imagine being part of an organisation whose common purpose is to help those who are severely impacted by mental illness. We believe that everyone should be treated with respect and dignity – and that’s why equity is one of our core values. We draw on the expertise, unique perspectives and lived experience of our people – regardless of who they are or their background – to help us become inclusive and anti-racist employer, campaigning organisation and service provider that reflect the diverse communities we support as a mental health charity.
The Mental Health and Advice Service enables Individuals with serious mental illness and common mental health conditions to live inclusively within their local communities. This is delivered through non-medical interventions and provides one element of the recovery pathway within Gloucestershire.
It provides short-medium term interventions which minimise/reduce the need for more intensive health and social care interventions.
Individuals access the MHA service in order to:
- Improve their mental wellbeing and personal recovery
- Increase their social inclusion
- Increase the control that they have over their own support
- Promote their independence
The MHA service seeks to do this through:
- 1-1 support through a Mental Health Support worker
- Wellbeing Activities (provided in group settings)
- Peer Support
- The provision of Safe Spaces
How you will make a difference
The County Wide Assessor (CWA) processes all referrals into the service across Gloucestershire and provides information and signposting to enquiries. It runs Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm (with out of hours voicemail). Referrals are accepted through email.
The CWA accepts and/or redirects referrals, arranges and carries out client assessments, either via phone or in-person. This includes baseline risk and wellbeing assessments.
Aside from this the role involves allocation of workers to clients, the accurate and efficient collection of data from multiple sources and compiling this into our Hive system.
Diversity, Equity, Inclusion

It gives us a deeper understanding of the world, our society and the diverse communities we’re working with. One way we are doing is through our valued staff networks which play a critical and highly valued role in keeping us focused on creating a diverse, inclusive and engaged employer. We recognise and support staff networks and support groups for our ethnically diverse and LGBTQIA+ colleagues. We are also proud to have been awarded Disability Confident Employer status and are a signatory to the Business in the Community Race at Work Charter.
We aim for our workforce to reflect the diversity of the communities we serve; for those who work for us to feel heard, valued and feel they belong; and for our work to help tackle wider mental health inequalities.
