Maintenance Manager, Automotive Manufacturing

Our client is a long-established UK automotive manufacturer supplying specialist components to the global vehicle industry, including the electric vehicle market.

They’re looking for a hands-on Maintenance Manager to lead the site’s maintenance function and improve the reliability of its production equipment. You’ll keep the plant running safely and efficiently while moving the team towards a more planned, proactive way of working.

What you’ll do

• Lead, coach and develop the maintenance team of [number]
• Own the planned and reactive maintenance of [key equipment] and site infrastructure
• Reduce unplanned downtime and improve equipment reliability and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE)
• Use root cause analysis to prevent repeat failures
• Manage the maintenance budget, spares and external contractors
• Support new machinery installations and capital projects
• Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements, including PUWER, LOLER and COSHH
• Work with production, quality and engineering teams on continuous improvement

What we’re looking for

• Experience leading a maintenance team in automotive or similar high-volume manufacturing
• A strong mechanical or electrical maintenance background
• A recognised engineering qualification, such as an HNC, or equivalent experience
• Working knowledge of TPM and lean manufacturing
• A hands-on leadership style and the ability to stay calm under production pressure
