Bicycle Product Manager - #2186592
TANDEM GROUP PLC
Bicycle Product Manager
The Role
We are recruiting for a Bicycle Product Manager to develop and manage our extensive own-brand bicycle portfolio, covering both electric and mechanical bikes across our well-established brands, including Dawes, Claud Butler, Falcon, Hoy and Squish.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in the continued development and evolution of our bicycle ranges. Working closely with the Category Manager, you will help shape the product roadmap, from initial concepts and specifications through to branding, model names, colourways and product visuals. You will then manage the execution of these plans with our global suppliers and factories, ensuring products are delivered successfully to our network of independent bicycle retailers and national retail partners.
The successful candidate will have proven experience in bicycle product management, Far East sourcing and a strong commercial mindset. You will be passionate about bikes, developing products that deliver quality, reliability and value for money, whilst meeting the business's sales, margin and profitability objectives.
This is a fully office-based position, with attendance required at our Birmingham office 4.5 days per week, Monday to Friday.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage and develop a diverse portfolio of existing bicycle ranges, covering electric, MTB, hybrid, heritage, folding and children's bikes.
- Identify opportunities to improve and refresh existing products, as well as develop new products and category opportunities that align with each brand's positioning and guidelines.
- Manage the end-to-end product development process, from initial concept through to launch. This will include component selection, technical specifications and BOMs, frame geometry, branding, colour and artwork proposals, pricing structures and commercial planning.
- Work closely with our Far East and European manufacturers, alongside our Hong Kong office, to ensure products are developed and manufactured on time, to the required specification and within agreed cost targets. This will include overseas sourcing and supplier visits.
- Liaise with our Warranty Team to monitor product performance, identify and resolve technical or quality issues with factories, ensuring the best possible experience for our retailers and customers.
- Carry out hands-on assembly and technical assessments of pre-production samples, production samples and bikes prepared for photoshoots.
- Undertake regular product cost analysis to ensure products meet the company's margin and profitability requirements.
- Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify emerging trends, understand customer requirements and inform future product development.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date product costings, specifications and product files to support the wider business and sales teams.
- Work closely with our in-house Photography and Videography Team to manage and coordinate product content creation, including studio photography, lifestyle shoots and video assets.
- Work closely with the Marketing Team to develop go-to-market strategies for new product launches, including sales presentations, product packs and digital catalogues.
- Review and maintain product listings across all sales channels, ensuring product information, imagery and specifications are accurate and effectively presented, including our B2B and EPOS systems such as Citrus-Lime

- A hands-on approach, with a willingness to share technical knowledge and support colleagues across the business.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational and project management skills.

- Product design skills or experience would be advantageous but are not essential.
