An established and growing employee-owned building services consultancy based in Birmingham is looking to recruit an Electrical Design Engineer to join its expanding team.

The consultancy provides mechanical, electrical, environmental, energy and sustainability design services across a varied portfolio of building projects. The Role

The successful Electrical Design Engineer will join a multidisciplinary building services team, taking responsibility for delivering electrical designs across projects from initial concept through to post-completion.

You will work across a varied range of developments, producing high-quality electrical designs and technical documentation while liaising with clients, contractors, suppliers and other design disciplines.

This is an excellent opportunity for an Electrical Engineer looking to take greater ownership of projects, develop their technical capabilities and progress within an employee-owned consultancy.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver electrical building services designs across projects from concept through to post-completion.
• Produce electrical drawings, technical reports and specifications.
• Undertake electrical calculations using recognised industry software.
• Work across commercial, industrial, healthcare, leisure, retail, residential, extra care and mixed-use developments.
• Liaise directly with clients and external design teams on technical matters.
• Assist with project management and general design coordination.
• Liaise with suppliers and monitor contractors throughout project delivery.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant British Standards, Codes of Practice and applicable regulations.
• Consider sustainable design principles and energy-efficient engineering solutions.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues across the wider multidisciplinary team.

Requirements:

• HND or above in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a relevant discipline.
• Ideally 3-5 years' experience within Electrical Building Services Design.
• Sound technical knowledge of electrical building services engineering.
• Experience using recognised electrical design and calculation software.
• Ability to manage projects and workloads independently.
• Good understanding of relevant British Standards and industry regulations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Desirable:

• Membership of a relevant professional body, such as CIBSE or IET.
• Working towards professional registration.
• Knowledge of sustainable design principles.
• Full UK driving licence.
