Birmingham Hospice
Director of Finance & Resources
Birmingham Hospice | Birmingham
Six-Figure Basic Salary + Benefits
Mallory Partners is delighted to be partnering with Birmingham Hospice to appoint a high-calibre Director of Finance & Resources to join its Executive Leadership Team.
This is an outstanding opportunity for an accomplished, commercially minded finance leader to play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction, financial sustainability and operational effectiveness of one of Birmingham's most important charitable organisations.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, the successful candidate will provide strategic and operational leadership across Finance, Digital, Data, Estates and Facilities, ensuring the organisation has the financial strength, infrastructure and resources to continue delivering its vital services.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Providing strategic financial leadership and acting as a trusted adviser to the Chief Executive, Board and Trustees.
- Leading financial strategy, planning, budgeting, forecasting, governance and performance management.
- Driving operational excellence, organisational efficiency and long-term financial sustainability.
- Providing leadership across Digital, Data, Estates and Facilities, ensuring these functions support the charity's wider strategic objectives.
- Championing digital transformation, data analytics and business intelligence to enhance organisational performance.
- Supporting investment decisions, infrastructure development, risk management and continuous improvement.
The ideal candidate will offer:
- A recognised professional accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or equivalent).
- A successful track record operating at Finance Director or senior financial leadership level.
- Strong commercial acumen, strategic thinking and experience influencing at Board level.
- Experience leading finance alongside wider corporate services or operational functions.
- The ability to combine financial stewardship with organisational transformation and effective stakeholder engagement.
- An engaging, collaborative and values-driven leadership style.
Experience within the charity, healthcare or not-for-profit sectors would be advantageous but is not essential. We are equally interested in hearing from talented finance leaders from commercial organisations who can demonstrate the leadership capability, transferable experience and motivation to make a genuine difference.
This is a rare opportunity to combine a senior, influential executive leadership role with the chance to make a meaningful contribution to an organisation delivering essential care and support across Birmingham.
Interviews for selected shortlisted candidates will take place on Monday 14 December 2026.
For a confidential discussion or further information, please contact Mallory Partners directly.
