Senior Assistant Psychologist

MUVE Healthcare is looking for an experienced Senior Assistant Psychologist to support the delivery and development of our psychology services. Working under the supervision of an HCPC-registered Practitioner Psychologist, you’ll take on a varied role spanning clinical work, service evaluation and team support.

You’ll contribute to psychological assessments and formulation-informed care planning, deliver structured low- to moderate-intensity interventions, and facilitate therapeutic groups within your competence and agreed supervision framework. You’ll also help monitor outcomes, support audit and service evaluation, and provide psychologically informed guidance and resources to multidisciplinary colleagues.

This role involves working with people with complex mental health presentations and vulnerabilities. You’ll need to communicate sensitively, maintain professional boundaries and work safely within your competencies. You’ll receive regular clinical supervision, with at least one hour each week, and contribute to reflective practice and team learning.

Key responsibilities

  • Undertake structured psychological assessments under clinical supervision and contribute to formulation-informed care plans.
  • Deliver structured psychological interventions and facilitate therapeutic groups within your competence.
  • Monitor outcomes and contribute to audit, research, service evaluation and quality improvement.
  • Support service coordination, service user engagement and referral or discharge processes where appropriate.
  • Share psychologically informed approaches with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to clinical resources.
  • Support the induction, guidance or mentorship of Assistant Psychologists and other support staff.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and uphold confidentiality, safeguarding and data security requirements.

About you

You’ll have:

  • An honours degree in Psychology recognised for Graduate Membership of the British Psychological Society (BPS).
  • Previous experience working as an Assistant Psychologist.
  • Experience across mental health settings and with a range of presentations, including complex needs and vulnerabilities.
  • Applied knowledge of psychological models, assessment, formulation and therapeutic interventions.
  • Experience supporting or delivering assessments, interventions and group work.
  • Experience working independently within a psychology team and alongside multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong skills in record keeping, report writing, research or data collection, and audit.
  • Experience facilitating or co-facilitating groups or structured programmes.
  • A sound understanding of trauma-informed care, behavioural support, safeguarding and ethical practice.
  • The ability to manage and prioritise your workload, communicate sensitively and engage in supervision and reflective practice.

A postgraduate qualification in applied Psychology, experience guiding or supervising junior psychology staff, pathway or training development, policy work, or advanced research statistics and publication experience would be an advantage.
