Data Subject Access Request (DSAR) Specialist

Location: Birmingham

Working Pattern: Hybrid

Salary: £40,000

GTS is recruiting for an experienced Data Subject Access Request (DSAR) Specialist to join a leading organisation within the rail industry.

This is a great opportunity for someone with strong UK GDPR knowledge and experience handling complex, sensitive DSAR cases, particularly within HR, Employee Relations and legal environments.

The Role

• Manage DSARs from initial request through to completion, ensuring compliance with statutory deadlines.
• Handle complex cases involving disciplinary investigations, grievances, whistleblowing and Employment Tribunals.
• Review, assess and redact sensitive HR records, witness statements and investigation documents.
• Apply UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018 exemptions, including third-party confidentiality.
• Manage requests involving CCTV and body-worn video footage.
• Work closely with HR, Legal, Employee Relations and external solicitors.
• Maintain accurate records and support improvements to DSAR processes.

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience managing complex DSARs under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
• Strong understanding of data protection exemptions and third-party disclosure requirements.
• Experience handling sensitive HR, disciplinary or legal documentation.
• Excellent attention to detail, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple cases and meet strict deadlines.
• Experience within a regulated environment would be advantageous.
• Data protection qualifications such as BCS or CIPP/E would be beneficial.
