Interim Associate Director - Building Control

Location: Birmingham - Hybrid working
Rate: £550-£650 per day
Contract: Interim | Full-time

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Interim Associate Director - Building Control to join an established building consultancy in Birmingham. This is a senior leadership opportunity, responsible for leading a team delivering Building Control services across domestic residential and community projects, while remaining personally involved in more complex schemes.

The Role

As Associate Director, you will provide technical and operational leadership to the team, ensuring high standards of regulatory compliance, customer service and technical delivery. You will support the continued development of the service while helping to build capability and professional competence across the team.Key responsibilities include:

• Leading Building Control activity across domestic residential and community projects.
• Providing technical expertise and judgement on complex schemes.
• Supporting the competence and professional development of team members.
• Maintaining high standards of regulatory compliance and professional practice.
• Working collaboratively with clients, colleagues and other built-environment professionals.
• Supporting commercially aware and customer-focused service delivery.

About You

Building Inspector Registration is essential for this role. Applicants must already hold, as a minimum:

• Class 4 Management
• Classes 2A, 2B, 2C, 2D, 2E and 2F
• Class 3 registration would be advantageous.

You will also have:

• Significant senior-level Building Control experience.
• Strong technical knowledge and experience of complex schemes.
• Proven leadership and team-management capability.
• A strong understanding of regulatory compliance and professional standards.
• Excellent stakeholder and customer-management skills.
• Commercial awareness within a customer-facing Building Control environment.

Working Arrangements

The role is based in Birmingham, with hybrid working. The team typically attends the office one or two days per week, with flexibility depending on business requirements. Candidates must be able to drive and have access to a vehicle insured for business use.
