Head of Operations

Join a field-based senior leadership opportunity with responsibility for commercial performance, people development and customer standards across a large multi-site estate. Ideal candidates will bring proven multi-site operational leadership and strong P&L expertise.

SALARY: From £70,000 per annum (depending on experience) + Benefits

LOCATION: Field-based, with regular travel to relevant brand sites across the North and South regions, travel to internal and external meetings with occasional overnight stays (Map will be provided at telephone interview stage)

JOB OVERVIEW

This is an excellent opportunity for a Head of Operations to shape commercial performance, people capability and customer standards across a multi-site estate.

Reporting to a senior operations leader, the Head of Operations will guide regional and district leaders, own P&L and EBITDA performance, and embed operational strategy.

With extensive travel across England, the Head of Operations will build stakeholder relationships, coach field leaders and drive consistent execution, growth and customer experience.

DUTIES

Your duties as the Head of Operations include:

  • People Leadership and Succession: Lead, coach and develop regional and district leaders, strengthen succession planning and embed company values
  • Commercial Performance: Drive sales, EBITDA, profit and P&L performance, control expenditure and identify opportunities to accelerate business growth
  • Operational Strategy and Standards: Implement operational strategy, strategic initiatives, core processes, brand standards and success routines across the estate
  • Customer Experience: Use guest feedback, operating standards and performance data to improve service, product quality, cleanliness and customer satisfaction
  • Compliance and Controls: Maintain health and safety compliance, audits, cash controls, inventory safeguards and required operational controls
  • Stakeholder and Brand Relationships: Build effective relationships with senior leadership, support teams, external partners and brand stakeholders
  • Business Reviews and Improvement: Lead business reviews, challenge existing processes, use KPIs to drive continuous improvement and support new initiatives
  • Field Leadership and Projects: Conduct coaching and operational visits, lead communications and contribute to projects and project teams


CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL

  • Proven senior operational leadership experience within multi-site retail, hospitality, leisure or foodservice, with accountability for large geographic regions and high-volume operations
  • Demonstrated success leading and developing field-based leadership teams and wider operational support functions
  • Strong commercial acumen with proven delivery of sales growth, EBITDA improvement, profit performance and multi-site P&L management
  • Strong leadership, coaching, succession planning and people development capability
  • Proven ability to lead operational change, implement strategic initiatives and embed new processes and systems across geographically dispersed teams
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills, with confidence engaging senior leaders, external partners and frontline employees
  • Strong analytical, organisational and planning skills, with the ability to interpret KPIs and manage competing priorities
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word skills
  • Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel extensively throughout the UK, including occasional overnight stays
  • Able to be based centrally to the store network, including Lancaster, Chester, Grimsby, Nottingham, north and south-west London, Surrey and Berkshire
  • Full right to work in the UK without restrictions - No sponsorship available

DESIRABLE

  • Previous experience within a franchised, branded or corporate hospitality environment
  • Experience working within a high-growth or transformational business
