Planning Associate Solicitor – Birmingham

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Planning Solicitor to join the planning team of a well-established and highly regarded regional law firm in Birmingham.

The firm has an excellent reputation across the Midlands and acts for a diverse client base, including developers, landowners, businesses and public sector organisations. Due to continued growth, the team is now looking to recruit a Planning Associate at around the 4 years' PQE level.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a planning lawyer looking to develop their career within a supportive and ambitious regional practice, working alongside experienced lawyers on a varied and interesting caseload.

The Role

You will have the opportunity to advise on a broad range of planning matters, working closely with clients and colleagues across the firm.

Your work is likely to include:

Planning applications, appeals and enforcement matters
Section 106 agreements and other planning obligations
Development and regeneration projects
Planning issues arising from residential and commercial developments
Advising developers, landowners and businesses on planning strategy
Planning due diligence and transactional support
Environmental and related regulatory matters

You will have significant client contact and will be encouraged to develop strong relationships with existing clients, as well as becoming involved in networking and business development activity.

The Candidate

The successful candidate will ideally have around 4 years' PQE and have gained solid experience within a recognised Planning team.

You will need:

Good technical knowledge of planning law
Experience advising on a range of contentious and/or non-contentious planning matters
Excellent drafting and communication skills
The ability to manage your own caseload with appropriate support
Strong commercial awareness and a client-focused approach
The confidence to deal directly with clients and other professionals
A genuine interest in developing your career within planning
