Sen Teaching Assistant - #2155091

Bright Star Talent are currently recruiting for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in Birmingham, supporting students aged 11–19.

The successful candidate will have experience working with young people with additional needs and challenging behaviour and will be confident supporting students both in the classroom and during less structured parts of the school day.

The Role

• Supporting students aged 11–19 with a range of additional needs
• Working closely with teachers and other support staff
• Providing one-to-one and small-group support where required
• Managing and responding appropriately to challenging behaviour
• Helping students remain engaged with learning and school routines
• Building positive and trusting relationships with students
• Supporting students with their emotional and behavioural needs
• Following individual support and behaviour plans
• Creating a calm, safe and supportive environment

The Ideal Candidate

• Previous experience working as an SEN Teaching Assistant or in a similar role
• Experience supporting children or young people with challenging behaviour
• Experience within an SEN or specialist education setting is highly desirable
• Patient, calm and confident when dealing with challenging situations
• Good understanding of safeguarding and working with vulnerable young people
• Able to work effectively as part of a wider school team
• Must have a DBS on the Update Service
