Specialist Support Teaching Assistant for young adults - #2154582

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a specialist SEN college for an experienced Specialist Support Teaching Assistant to support young adults with additional learning needs. This role would be every week Monday - Thursday.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people to develop their independence, confidence and life skills within a specialist educational environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff and other professionals to provide tailored support to students, both in the classroom and throughout their college day.

• Provide one-to-one and small-group support to young adults with SEN and additional needs.
• Support students with their learning, communication, social development and independence.
• Assist with classroom activities and adapt learning tasks to meet individual needs.
• Provide support with personal care, including toileting, dressing and other personal hygiene needs where required.
• Encourage students to develop independence and essential life skills.
• Support students with behavioural, emotional and communication needs.
• Follow individual support plans and contribute to students’ progress and development.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, families and other professionals.
• Promote a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment.
• Support students during educational activities, trips and other college activities where required.

We are looking for candidates who have:

• At least 2 years' experience working with children or young adults with SEN.
• Experience working as a Teaching Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant, Support Worker or similar role.
• Experience supporting individuals with complex or additional needs.
• A genuine passion for supporting young people to achieve their potential.
• The ability and willingness to provide personal care when required.
• A patient, caring and professional approach.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• The ability to remain calm and supportive when dealing with challenging situations.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.

Previous experience within a specialist SEN college, school, residential setting or care environment would be highly desirable.
