Hays Education are working in partnership with a primary school in South Birmingham to recruit an experienced School Office Manager to provide essential leadership and support.
This is a full-time permanent opportunity offering the chance to play a key role in the day-to-day running of a busy school office, leading administrative operations and ensuring compliance across a range of school functions. The role will be Monday-Friday, 8am -4pm.
Your new role
As School Office Manager, you will oversee the smooth and efficient management of the school office, providing operational support across administration, finance, HR and compliance. Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing the day-to-day operations of the school office
- Leading and supporting the administrative team
- Overseeing finance and administrative processes
- Managing transactional HR and payroll administration
- Maintaining personnel records and ensuring safer recruitment compliance
- Supporting Single Central Record (SCR) compliance and safeguarding requirements
- Producing accurate reports and maintaining school records
- Liaising with staff, parents, external agencies and senior leaders
- Ensuring efficient administrative systems are in place and operating effectively
What you'll need to succeed
- Previous experience in a senior school administration or office management role
- Strong knowledge of school systems, processes and compliance requirements
- Experience maintaining the Single Central Record (SCR)
- Understanding of safer recruitment procedures
- Experience using school MIS systems, ideally Arbor
- Knowledge of finance systems and processes
- Excellent organisational and people management skills
- The ability to work independently and manage competing priorities within a busy school environment
