HGV Technician Contractor - Birmingham
Rate: £33P/H
Hours: Full-time, various shifts available
Start Date: Immediate / ASAP

NMS Recruit are currently looking for experienced HGV Technicians / HGV Mechanics for contract opportunities with commercial vehicle operators across Birmingham.
We are looking to speak with qualified and experienced technicians who are available for immediate or upcoming contract assignments.

The Role
As an HGV Technician, you will be responsible for servicing, maintaining and repairing a range of heavy commercial vehicles.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Routine servicing and preventative maintenance
• Carrying out inspections in line with maintenance schedules
• Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults
• Repairing engines, gearboxes, braking and suspension systems
• Working with vehicle diagnostic equipment
• Preparing vehicles for MOT
• Rectifying defects identified during inspections
• Attending to breakdowns where required
• Completing maintenance and repair documentation
• Ensuring all work meets DVSA and operator standards

Requirements

• NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair or equivalent
• Previous experience working as an HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic or Commercial Vehicle Technician
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding ability
• Experience working with modern commercial vehicles
• Own tools where required
• Ability to work independently and efficiently
• Good understanding of vehicle inspection and maintenance standards
• An HGV driving licence is advantageous but not essential.
