Behaviour Mentor required to provide 1-2-1 support to a male Key Stage 3 student with SEMH needs at an Alternative Provision in South Birmingham. Are you an experienced Behaviour Mentor, Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant looking for a rewarding new opportunity? Do you have experience supporting young people with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour? This is an excellent opportunity for a Behaviour Mentor to provide consistent 1-2-1 support and help a young person overcome barriers to education.

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with the student, class teacher and wider pastoral team to support behaviour, engagement and emotional regulation. The Behaviour Mentor will help the student access learning, develop positive relationships and make progress within an Alternative Provision setting.

Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or working with young people with SEMH needs is essential. A Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or degree is also required.

Job Role:

• Providing dedicated 1-2-1 Behaviour Mentor support to a KS3 student.
• Supporting a student with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour.
• Building a positive and trusting relationship with the student.
• Supporting behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement.
• Helping the student access lessons and participate in learning.
• Working closely with teachers and the wider pastoral team.
• Reinforcing positive behaviour, boundaries and expectations.
• Helping the student overcome barriers to education.
• Encouraging confidence, resilience and independence.
