Our client, a leading provider of facilities services in the UK, is seeking an experienced Assistant Facilities Manager to support the safe, compliant and effective delivery of facilities services across a regional portfolio.
Reporting to the Regional Facilities Manager, the successful candidate will oversee frontline facilities teams and contractors, ensuring services are delivered to a high standard while maintaining a positive workplace experience for customers.
Job Overview
Our client is looking for a proactive and organised individual with supervisory experience within a facilities management or cleaning services environment. The role will support the day-to-day delivery of facilities services while ensuring compliance, operational effectiveness, and service excellence across the contract.
The successful candidate will provide operational leadership to frontline teams, drive continuous improvement initiatives, support workforce planning and development, and ensure services are delivered in a safe, commercially responsible, and customer-focused manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the contract management team in the delivery, review, and ongoing development of service solutions, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Maintain a safe, healthy, and secure working environment, ensuring compliance with all relevant Health & Safety legislation.
- Manage the rostering of facilities team members to ensure contractual staffing requirements are consistently met.
- Ensure audits, COSHH documentation, Health & Safety records, SOPs, and other compliance documentation are completed, maintained, and reviewed as required.
- Support the recruitment, training, and development of frontline facilities employees.
- Manage customer queries and complaints, ensuring they are appropriately recorded, investigated, and resolved.
- Complete all required reporting, administration, and performance documentation accurately and within agreed timescales.
- Monitor expenditure, including materials, consumables, payroll, and agency labour, ensuring effective cost control while identifying opportunities for additional services and revenue growth.
Person Specification
- Supervisory experience within a facilities management or cleaning services environment.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to work independently while following management guidance.
- Understanding of how service outcomes contribute to overall contract success.
- Experience managing operational performance against agreed objectives and targets.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to respond effectively to operational challenges.
- Ability to identify and implement service improvements that support customer expectations and contractual requirements.
- Excellent communication and team leadership skills.
- Experience monitoring, reviewing, and improving individual and team performance.
