Key responsibilities

• Develop and lead the UK HSE strategy, translating business objectives into clear priorities, standards and improvement plans.

  
  
  

• Provide strategic advice to senior leadership on HSE performance, regulatory compliance, operational risk and governance.

  
  
  

• Oversee HSE management systems, assurance programmes, audits and performance reporting across the UK.

  
  
  

• Lead, develop and support HSE managers and wider teams, establishing clear expectations and promoting accountability.

  
  
  

• Drive improvements in safety culture, leadership engagement, contractor management and risk control.

  
  
  

• Oversee significant incident investigations, ensuring appropriate root-cause analysis, corrective actions and lessons learned.

  
  
  

• Work with project directors, operational leaders, clients, contractors and relevant external stakeholders to maintain and improve HSE standards.

  
  
  

• Monitor changes in legislation, industry guidance and emerging risks, ensuring the business responds appropriately.

  
  
  

• Use performance data and assurance findings to identify trends, address weaknesses and support continuous improvement.

  
  
  

Experience and qualifications

• Significant senior HSE leadership experience within renewable energy, power, major construction, civil engineering, utilities or a related high-risk industry.

  
  
  

• Experience developing and implementing HSE strategy across multiple projects, sites, regions or business units.

  
  
  

• Strong understanding of UK HSE legislation, risk management, contractor assurance and management systems.

  
  
  

• Experience leading and developing HSE teams and influencing senior stakeholders.

  
  
  

• Experience improving HSE performance through effective leadership, governance and engagement.

  
  
  

• NEBOSH Diploma or an equivalent

  
  
  

• Chartered IOSH status
