Hays Technology are working in partnership with a leading Higher Education organisation in Birmingham to recruit a Market Insight and Data Analyst on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping student recruitment and marketing strategies through the delivery of high-quality market intelligence, data analysis, forecasting and actionable insights.

This position sits within a Market Insight function and will be responsible for analysing complex internal and external datasets to identify trends, evaluate performance and support evidence-based decision making across recruitment and marketing activities. The role will utilise a range of analytical tools and techniques, including SQL, Power BI, Python and advanced Excel, to deliver meaningful insights and reporting. The successful candidate will work closely with key stakeholders across the organisation to develop forecasting models, monitor recruitment performance and provide market intelligence that supports strategic planning. They will also be responsible for developing and maintaining dashboards, competitor analysis, benchmarking activities and recruitment funnel reporting, helping senior leaders understand opportunities, risks and market trends.

In addition, the role will support the evaluation of marketing activity and recruitment campaigns through quantitative analysis, while contributing to a range of insight projects and institutional initiatives. The post holder will continuously develop their knowledge of emerging analytical approaches, higher education market trends and relevant sector datasets.

In order to apply, you must have the following skills and experience:

• Degree-level qualification or equivalent experience in a quantitative, analytical or data-focused discipline.
• Proven experience within market intelligence, business intelligence, data analysis or insight-focused roles.
• Experience working with large and complex datasets to identify trends and produce meaningful business insights.
• Strong SQL skills with experience querying and manipulating relational databases.
• Experience using analytical programming tools such as Python, R or DAX.
• Experience developing dashboards and visualisations using Power BI or similar BI tools.
• Ability to integrate multiple data sources and produce robust analytical outputs.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex information.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical findings to non-technical audiences.
• Experience managing competing priorities and delivering high-quality outputs to deadlines.
• Ability to build effective stakeholder relationships and work collaboratively across teams.

Desirable experience includes:

• Experience working within the Higher Education sector.
• Knowledge of sector datasets such as UCAS, HESA and OfS.
• Understanding of the student recruitment and admissions lifecycle.
• Experience in forecasting, predictive analytics and scenario modelling.
• Experience automating reporting processes, dashboards and analytical workflows.
• Project coordination or project delivery experience within an analytical or insight function.
