Robert Half are recruiting a Head of Finance on behalf of a successful UK organisation operating within a complex, project-led environment. This is a high-impact leadership position, offering full ownership of the finance function and a seat at the table with the senior leadership team.
This is far more than a traditional financial control role. You'll be expected to challenge decisions, drive profitability, improve performance, and provide the commercial insight needed to support continued growth.
The RoleAs Head of Finance, you will take responsibility for the overall financial leadership of the business, ensuring robust financial management whilst acting as a trusted adviser to operational and commercial teams.
You'll be at the heart of strategic decision-making, providing insight that drives business performance, improves margins, strengthens controls, and supports long-term growth ambitions.
Responsibilities include:
- Leading and developing a high-performing finance team.
- Owning all financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting and planning activities.
- Delivering meaningful commercial insight to support business performance.
- Driving financial discipline and accountability across the organisation.
- Managing cash flow, working capital and liquidity performance.
- Partnering with operational leaders to improve project and contract profitability.
- Ensuring appropriate governance, risk management and regulatory compliance.
- Leading audit processes and maintaining key external relationships.
- Identifying opportunities to streamline processes, improve systems and enhance reporting capability.
- Supporting strategic initiatives, investment decisions and future growth plans.
We're seeking an ambitious and influential finance professional who enjoys operating in a fast-paced environment and isn't afraid to challenge the status quo.
You will ideally possess:
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification.
- A proven track record in a senior finance leadership role.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to influence and challenge senior stakeholders.
- Experience within engineering, contracting, manufacturing, construction, infrastructure, utilities or other project-based sectors.
- Excellent financial planning, analysis and cash management capabilities.
- A hands-on leadership style with the ability to balance strategic thinking and operational delivery.
- Experience leading teams through change, growth or transformation.
- The confidence to operate as a key member of the senior leadership team.
