Robertson Bell

A well-established housing organisation is partnering with Robertson Bell to recruit a Development and Treasury Accountant on a permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a part-qualified accountant or ambitious finance professional to develop a broad skill set across treasury, financial planning and development finance within a supportive and growing organisation.

This is a particularly varied role, with exposure to treasury management, business planning, development appraisals and financial analysis. You do not need to be an expert across all areas; the key requirement is a solid grounding in either treasury or development finance, alongside strong analytical and Excel skills and the ambition to develop across the wider remit.

The role

  • Support the treasury function with daily cash management, liquidity forecasting, loan administration and covenant monitoring.
  • Assist with treasury transactions, month end journals, balance sheet reconciliations and interest calculations.
  • Maintain and update the organisation's financial plan and FP&A dashboards using BRIXX.
  • Support development appraisals and assess the financial viability of new development schemes and projects.
  • Analyse development cashflows, investment opportunities, land costs and scheme viability.
  • Maintain accurate data across key finance and property systems, including ProVal and BRIXX.
  • Support regulatory submissions and ensure financial information is accurate and compliant.
  • Assist with financial planning and forecasting across the organisation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes and reporting.
  • Work closely with colleagues across finance and the wider organisation, providing clear and insightful financial analysis.

The organisation

The organisation is an established housing provider operating across the Midlands, delivering homes and services to thousands of people and communities. The finance function offers significant exposure across the organisation, with a strong focus on developing its people and giving them the opportunity to build broad commercial and technical experience.

This role sits within a specialist team covering financial analysis and treasury and offers an excellent opportunity to learn from experienced finance professionals. The successful candidate will be given the time and support to develop their knowledge across areas outside their existing experience, making this an ideal role for someone looking to take the next step in their finance career.

Essential criteria

  • Part-qualified accountant or significant relevant finance/treasury experience.
  • Experience within treasury, development finance, financial planning or a related analytical finance environment.
  • Strong Excel and wider systems skills, with experience working confidently with financial data.
  • Strong analytical ability and the confidence to interpret financial information and make recommendations.
  • Knowledge of social housing finance, development appraisal or the Rent Standard would be advantageous.
  • Experience with BRIXX, ProVal or Power BI would be beneficial but is not essential.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • A proactive approach and genuine desire to learn and develop across a broad finance remit.

Apply now

This is a permanent, full-time position offering a salary of £36,000–£39,000 per annum. The role is based in Birmingham and requires a minimum of three days per week in the office, with greater office attendance expected initially while you establish yourself within the team. Once settled, a flexible hybrid working arrangement can be agreed.

The organisation offers 35 days annual leave, alongside a range of additional benefits and opportunities for flexible working, wellbeing and professional development.

Interviews will be held on a rolling basis.
