As the Director of External Communications, based in Birmingham, you'll oversee and shape the organisation's communication strategies to ensure clear and effective engagement with stakeholders. Your role will be critical in promoting and protecting the organisation's message and public image within the public sector.

Description

  • Develop and implement external communication strategies that align with organisational goals.
  • Oversee media relations, ensuring effective responses to inquiries and proactive engagement with press outlets.
  • Lead a team to deliver high-quality campaigns and communication initiatives.
  • Act as a key spokesperson for the organisation, representing its values and objectives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and partners in the public sector.
  • Provide strategic advice on communication matters to senior leadership.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of communication strategies, using data to inform improvements.
  • Ensure all external communications comply with relevant regulations and standards.

Profile

A successful Director of External Communications should have:

  • Experience in leading communication strategies within a public sector context.
  • Strong skills in media relations and stakeholder engagement.
  • Proven ability to manage and develop a team effectively.
  • Clear and confident communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of regulatory environments and compliance requirements.
  • Strategic thinking and the ability to advise senior leadership on communication matters.
  • Experience in evaluating and improving communication initiatives using data-driven insights.

Job Offer

  • Daily rate of £800 to £950, dependent on the level of experience.
  • Temporary position based in Birmingham - 1 day per week
