Are you ready to take on a pivotal role in the world of public services? Join our client West Midland Police's Regional Intelligence Unit (RIU) as an Intelligence Officer! This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic team that plays a crucial role in tackling complex criminal activities.

About the Role:
As an Intelligence Officer, you will be the backbone of our intelligence operations, ensuring we maximise our effectiveness in supporting tactical and strategic priorities. Your work will help minimise threats, risks, and harm within our communities.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Research, evaluate, and enhance scoping products tailored to ROCU WM operational priorities.
  • Gather and de-conflict intelligence from diverse sources to create comprehensive Intelligence Assessments.
  • Identify intelligence gaps and establish intelligence requirements.
  • Collaborate within a flexible and professional workforce in a secure environment.
  • Keep information up to date and accurate.
  • Leverage Open Source capabilities to enrich intelligence products.
  • Handle covertly obtained materials in line with policy and processes.
  • Prepare and maintain RIPA and IPA applications.
  • Review covertly obtained materials.
  • Foster relationships with partner agencies and stakeholders for efficient collaboration.
  • Exhibit high computer literacy, using various systems, applications, and digital tools.
  • Communicate effectively within the team to provide an excellent intelligence response.
  • Support the Intelligence Professionalisation programme and work towards accreditation.

**Please note due to the police vetting criteria any successful candidate offered will undergo police vetting. The criteria for this role is that you have resided within the UK continuously for the past 5 years.**

Essential Qualities:

  • Knowledge of intelligence systems and processes.
  • Familiarity with RIPA 2000.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Sensitivity to diverse community needs.
  • Initiative and innovation in developing intelligence products.
  • Understanding of covert policing techniques.
  • Integrity and professionalism in handling sensitive inquiries.
  • Awareness of the National Intelligence Model (NIM) and NPCC Guidance on MOPI.
  • Ability to work independently while remaining team-focused.
  • Effective under pressure, with strong time management and coordination skills.

Shift Patterns:
You will work within a shift pattern covering , including weekends, with flexibility based on workload demands.
