Reed Further Education are currently working with a further education provider in Birmingham to recruit a Carpentry Lecturer to deliver high-quality teaching across construction programmes. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with industry experience looking to move into or progress within education.
Role Details
- Job Title: Carpentry Lecturer
- Contract: Permanent
- Hours: 37 hours per week
- Salary: £23,386 – £42,924 per annum (dependent on experience)
- Location: Birmingham
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging theoretical and practical carpentry sessions up to Level 3
- Teach across City & Guilds, NVQ and T Level programmes
- Plan, prepare and develop course materials and schemes of work
- Monitor and track student progress, ensuring achievement of targets
- Provide academic and pastoral support to learners
- Complete assessments, marking, and feedback in a timely manner
- Manage classroom behaviour, attendance and learner engagement
- Maintain accurate records including registers, ILPs and tracking systems
- Contribute to quality assurance processes including internal and external verification
- Support enrichment activities, work placements and employer engagement
Requirements
- Recognised qualification in Carpentry/Joinery (e.g. NVQ/City & Guilds Level 3 or above)
- Teaching qualification (PGCE/QTS) or willingness to work towards one
- Experience delivering carpentry or construction training (industry or education)
- Strong understanding of FE curriculum and assessment processes
- Ability to support and motivate learners of varying abilities
- Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain
