Contract FTC, 12-month undergraduate industrial placement (37.5hrs per week)
Position Summary
As a Marketing Intern for ZEISS UK & Ireland, you will support the Marketing team in delivering its day-to-day priorities, contributing to clearly defined projects across Brand, Product and Trade Marketing (including channel marketing activities, product launches, B2B, B2C and B2B2C initiatives, campaigns and communications), as well as Digital Marketing (digital platforms, digital and social campaigns, and always-on activity).
In this role you will learn how marketing activity drives business impact, build core marketing knowledge and hands-on experience, and develop a strong foundation in effective ways of working and customer-focused execution.

Responsibilities
- Channel Marketing Activities: Support the team to deliver trade marketing initiatives for our commercial team across the channels we operate in. This includes our network of ZEISS Partner Eye Care Professionals ‘ECPs’ (UK & Ireland Independent Opticians), and Key Accounts: Boots Opticians, Scrivens, Bayfields, Cubitts, Costco. This will include supporting the delivery of Customised POS requests and supporting the organisation of Trade Events.
- Product Launches: Support the team to deliver executional excellence in launching products to market. This may include supporting the delivery of internal product launch communications or activities.
- B2B, B2C and B2B2C initiatives, campaigns and communications: Support the team to plan and deliver initiatives that are B2B (targeted to our customer, the optical retailer), B2C (targeted to our end consumer, the optical retailer’s patient) and B2B2C (marketing given to our customer, the optical retailer, but are then used by them to market to the consumer). This may include supporting with brand or product campaigns, customer events, or communications. Using CRM system (SalesForce) to track activity, review & update customer data.
- Digital Marketing (ZEISS digital platforms): Support the team to plan and deliver marketing initiatives across our digital platforms. This may include supporting with Digital Asset Management: Handling MyZEISS Marketing Toolbox, ShowPad, and Salesforce updates.
- Digital Marketing (ZEISS digital and social channels: campaigns and always-on activity): Support the team with Social Media Management and Survey Management: This may include regular updates and management across our social media channels like Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook, along with survey administration (Qualtrics, Voice of the Customer VOC)..
- POS Stock Management: ZEISS provide customers with Point of Sales POS to promote their practice and ZEISS solutions that they provide within their practice. This helps them drive patient footfall and lens conversion. Customers use our online portal to view and order their POS. This role will support the team to manage our Point of Sales POS inventory, working closely with colleagues from marketing, commercial & 3rd party print agency.
- Project delivery: The intern will have the opportunity to work on a project throughout the duration of the 12-month internship. And at the end of the internship, they will be invited to present back to a couple of members of the team, on what they have delivered.
Essential Criteria
Education & background
- Currently studying (or recently completed) a degree (or equivalent) in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related discipline.
- Interest in pursuing a career in marketing, demonstrated through studies, projects or extracurricular activities.
Marketing knowledge & awareness
- Basic understanding of core marketing concepts (e.g. brand, product, trade/channel marketing, digital and social media marketing).
- Awareness of and audiences and how communications may differ for each.
Digital & social media skills
- Confident using major social media platforms (e.g. Instagram, TikTok, Facebook) from a user perspective and an interest in how brands use these channels.
- Comfortable working with digital tools and platforms; willing and able to learn systems such as content management tools, digital asset management or CRM (training provided).
Communication skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with excellent attention to detail
Organisation & time management
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise workload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment (e.g. via academic work or part-time roles).
- Structured, reliable and able to follow through on agreed actions.
Collaboration & interpersonal skills
- Enjoys working as part of a team; able to build positive working relationships with colleagues and external partners.
- Open, proactive and willing to ask questions and seek feedback.
IT proficiency
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
- Ability to quickly learn new software tools and online platforms.
Eligibility & availability
- Eligible to work in the UK for the full duration of the 12‑month internship.
- Available to work full-time (Monday-Friday, office based, hybrid) from the specified start date
