Paralegal / Legal Assistant (Family Law)

Location: Birmingham (Office-Based)

Salary: £25,000 – £28,000

Hours: 9:00am – 5:00pm

I’m currently working with a well-established firm who are looking to appoint a Paralegal / Legal Assistant into their Private Family Law department based in Birmingham.

This is a great opportunity for a candidate with prior family law experience to join a busy and supportive team, with strong exposure to private and (ideally) public law matters.

The Opportunity

The successful candidate will support fee earners across a full caseload of family matters, including:

• Divorce and matrimonial work
• Financial remedies
• Child arrangements
• Consent orders
• Pre- and post-nuptial agreements

Key Responsibilities

• Providing comprehensive legal support to solicitors and fee earners
• Drafting legal documents, including witness and position statements
• Managing files and maintaining accurate records on the case management system (PCMS)
• Preparing court bundles and correspondence
• Liaising with clients, counsel, experts, and external agencies
• Managing diaries and key deadlines
• Working with Legal Aid (LAA) portals and applications

My client is looking for:

• Previous experience within Family Law
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• Confident IT skills, including Microsoft Office and case management systems
• Someone comfortable handling sensitive matters and working with vulnerable clients

Package & Benefits

• Salary: £25,000 – £28,000 (dependent on experience)
• 25 days holiday + Bank Holidays
• Additional 1 day annual leave per year of service (up to 30 days)
• Birthday day off (post-probation)
