Senior Planner - #2085576

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Planner to join a growing Project Controls team supporting major National Grid infrastructure programmes. This client-facing role involves leading planning and scheduling activities across large-scale utility and capital investment projects valued at £100m+.

Key Responsibilities

You will independently deliver effective project controls services. This includes developing and maintaining detailed schedules, WBS, and critical path activities using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project, ensuring alignment with National Grid objectives.

You will monitor progress against baselines, undertake variance and delay analysis, and review contractor programmes. Collaborating with cost teams, you will align schedules with Cost Breakdown Structures (CBS) and support resource forecasting.

Additionally, you will support risk analysis, change control mitigation, and produce performance metrics using Excel and Power BI to present updates and facilitate workshops for senior stakeholders.

Candidate Profile

• Experience: Proven planning delivery on major energy, utility, or construction infrastructure projects (£100m+) within complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
• Technical & Commercial Skills: Advanced Primavera P6, strong MS Project, and solid proficiency in scheduling methodologies. Good understanding of NEC contracts, change management, and delay analysis.
• Core Attributes: Excellent communication skills to present complex data clearly to technical and non-technical audiences. Self-motivated, proactive, detail-oriented, and able to manage competing priorities independently to meet deadlines.
