- Job Type: Full-time (37.5 hours per week, including early and late shifts and some weekends)
We are seeking a Deputy Manager to support the Registered Care Manager in meeting compliance standards as determined by the Care Quality Commission, Local Authority, and Quality teams. This role involves leading all operational activity and managing the service during the manager’s absences, ensuring high standards of professional practice and compliance with standards required by CQC and internal policies.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Promote an enabling environment that meets high standards of professional practice and compliance with CQC standards.
- Support the development and implementation of support plans that are co-produced and led by the needs of the person.
- Manage and deliver successful transitions for individuals new to the support, ensuring all safeguarding matters are escalated appropriately.
- Develop and maintain effective communication systems with families, advocates, and professionals.
- Lead the management team in the effective running of the service, ensuring quality throughout.
- Proactively manage and develop Senior Support Workers by leading by example, sharing practices, and mentoring.
- Manage crises or conflicts effectively and guide employees appropriately.
- Ensure effective coverage by staff that reflects the needs and preferred lifestyles of the individuals supported.
- Lead on conflict resolution and grievance investigations alongside the HR Department.
- Manage inspections and quality visits in the absence of the Registered Care Manager.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Substantial training or a qualification relevant to a supervisory position in social care or a related field.
- Strong understanding of the legal and regulatory frameworks for registered services.
- Over 2 years of experience managing/supervising staff performance in relevant CQC regulated settings.
- Strong leadership skills, including team building, performance management, and supervision.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages and ability to manage systems for expenditure, medication, staff training, and performance.
- Car owner with a full manual driving licence and ability to undertake on-call duties on a rota basis.
