Finance Manager, Edgbaston, Permanent, £40,000-£50,000, Office Based Role
Greenwell Gleeson are working exclusively with an organisation based just on the outskirts of Birmingham who are seeking an experienced and proactive Finance Manager to join their dynamic team at a well-established private school. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in managing the school's finances and supporting its continued growth and excellence.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Headteacher and Governors, providing strategic financial insight and ensuring robust financial processes are in place.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the preparation and management of the school's annual budget and financial forecasts
Produce monthly management accounts and financial reports for senior leadership and governors
Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including payroll, purchasing, and cash flow management
Manage the billing and collection of school fees and monitor debtor balances
Ensure compliance with financial regulations, accounting standards, and internal policies
Liaise with auditors and manage year-end accounts and statutory reporting
Develop and maintain strong financial controls and procedures
Manage and support finance team members
About You
Professionally qualified (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) or qualified by experience
Experienced in financial management, ideally within education or a similar environment
Highly organised, with strong attention to detail
A confident communicator, able to present financial information clearly
Proficient in financial systems and Excel
Able to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team
Desirable Experience
Experience in a fee-paying school or similar organisation
Knowledge of VAT, payroll, and pensions
Experience working with governors or trustees
