An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Construction Underwriter to join a well-established and highly respected renewals team within a leading insurer.

This role can be based in Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds or London

This role focuses on managing and underwriting a broad portfolio of construction renewal business, working across a varied range of risks including electrical contractors, HVAC contractors, building services engineers, finishing trades, and general building contractors.

The position offers exposure to a diverse product suite including cross-class liability, professional liability, and property, making it an excellent opportunity for someone looking to further develop their technical underwriting expertise within a collaborative and forward-thinking environment.

You will be responsible for managing renewal cases, maintaining strong broker relationships, and delivering exceptional service while ensuring underwriting discipline and profitability.

Key responsibilities include:

• Underwriting construction renewals within delegated authority
• Managing mid-term adjustments and referrals
• Building and maintaining strong broker relationships
• Working closely with technical teams and wider business functions
• Identifying opportunities to upsell and cross-sell additional covers
• Providing market insight and feedback on underwriting trends
• Supporting wider team initiatives and projects

The ideal candidate will have:

• Previous construction underwriting experience
• Strong technical underwriting knowledge
• Excellent communication and relationship management skills
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
• Confidence managing broker relationships
• Good IT skills including MS Office
• Progress towards, or willingness to study for, CII qualifications
