Birmingham City Council is the largest local authority in Europe. With an annual spend of over £4billion, we are determined to create a brighter future for all our citizens and at the heart of this ambition lies our Finance team.
Join us and you won’t just improve life for over 1 million people, you’ll help Birmingham become one of the world’s most successful, sustainable cities.
Our vision is for Finance to be a best-in-class function that’s agile, innovative and proactive, as well as diverse and inclusive. This is an incredibly exciting time for us; the opportunities for you to contribute and influence, to make bold and significant changes are endless. As we change finance services to give customers more control and add value through data analytics and insight, you’ll be at the forefront of achievement and progress.
As a Senior Business Analyst (we refer to our Accountants as Senior Business Analysts), you’ll be helping Public Health in delivering its plans and in meeting its goals. As part of a small analyst team, you’ll analyse and report on financial data, maintaining up to date records. You’ll also be advising budget holders, assisting with long-term planning and supporting them to produce accurate forecasts as part of monthly monitoring and support them during budget setting and annual closedown. We have moved to an Oracle financial system so this is a particularly exciting time to join us as we support our services in moving to this new system.
You will be supporting the Finance Manager and helping to provide a high-quality service. Focused on customer care, you’ll be efficient and professional.
AAT-qualified (and ideally working towards CCAB qualification), you’ll have led activities within a Finance team and presented reports and documents. Ideally with experience of Public Health, you’ll also be used to advising senior staff and building relationships with them. And with your knowledge of management accounting, planning, budgeting and forecasting, you’ll have the credibility to become a trusted member of a dedicated team. Motivated, caring and passionate about what you do.
This is more than your next finance role. It’s a chance to create a brighter, bolder Birmingham.
