Behaviour Mentor – SEMH Support in Secondary Schools
Location: Ruberey
Pay: Competitive (dependent on experience and role responsibilities)
Hours: Full-time, Monday–Friday, 8:15am–3:45pm (term time only)
Do you have experience working with young people in education, support work, or pastoral care? Are you confident in managing challenging behaviour and passionate about promoting positive mental health and student wellbeing?
Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with several secondary schools across Birmingham to provide targeted SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) support for pupils in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. We are looking for dedicated, resilient individuals to join school teams as Behaviour Mentors
About the Role:
As a Behaviour Mentor, you will:
Work closely with pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small groups to manage behaviour and promote emotional wellbeing
Support students with SEMH and SEN needs, encouraging positive engagement and consistent school attendance
Play an active role in pastoral care, helping pupils develop coping strategies and build confidence
Attend regular review meetings to track and support academic and personal progress
Help create a safe, structured and supportive learning environment
Who We’re Looking For:
Experience in SEND, youth work, support work, sports coaching, or childcare
Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, confident approach
A clear and up-to-date Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply – we can assist)
Team Teach or other de-escalation training is beneficial (but not essential)
Reliable, committed, and able to build strong professional relationships with pupils and staff
