Main Purpose Of The Role

This role will form part of the senior plant technical team for the MES (Manufacturing Execution System) function for new project production launches and all current production processes across multiple Artifex Elmdon plants, the role will be project based (NPI) and the day-to-day management of a team of MES engineers working beneath you. Your reporting line will be in to the Plant Process Engineering Manager

Main Missions And Results

  • The day-to-day management of a team of MES engineers.
  • Project work to introduce new MES systems for all new product launches.
  • Programming of MES systems for new product introduction and current model year changes.
  • Programming and implementation of MES solutions for process improvements and problem resolution.
  • Programming and introduction of PLC solutions on all existing and new equipment and processes.
  • Develop and document MES and system-based process engineering work instructions (PEWI).
  • Training of MES engineers against all current and new documented processes.
  • Overseeing the maintenance and health of the MES system.
  • Manage and support the engineering change process (ECR) and safely implement all changes regarding the MES system.
  • Full training of all MES engineers internally to ensure team is self-sufficient and not reliant day to day on external support.
  • Responsible for implementing new technologies regarding MES systems.

Preferred Skills And Experience

  • Proven experience in an automotive and engineering environment.
  • Robotic awareness trained for movement, recovery and fault finding (ABB, Nachi and Fanuc).
  • Knowledge of PLC programming and fault finding through to fix.
  • Programming and fault-finding knowledge within Sorion, Orion and Kepware.
  • Audits - ISO19011 training or experience in automotive production sector (ISO/TS 16949, IATF16949, VDA)
  • Clear understanding and able to apply PFMEA logic to identify and manage risk/feasibility.
  • Knowledge of Keyence and Omron Vision, Camera and Sensor Systems.
  • Knowledge of Eaton System programming and fault finding through to fix.
  • Knowledge of ECR (Engineering Change Request) Processes.
  • Knowledge of and execution of Practical Problem Solving (Six Sigma Methodology).
  • Knowledge of PCR (Process Change Request) Processes.
  • Knowledge of Waterjet machines and robotics
  • Knowledge of key controlling documents (PFMEA, Control Plan and SOI's)
  • Knowledge and Understanding of Launch Process (Gateways)
