The Opportunity:
We are currently recruiting for a dedicated Project Manager to join our HS2 Department at Murphy Geospatial. In this role, you will take full responsibility for the successful execution and delivery of projects to the client. You’ll collaborate with key stakeholders, including clients, departmental leads, and fellow project managers, while reporting directly to the HS2 Senior Project Manager.

What will I be doing in my new role?
Project Oversight & Strategy:
- Develop and implement an efficient HS2 project work programme and strategy.
- Ensure all HS2 projects are designed, implemented, and delivered in line with departmental and company quality procedures.
- Effectively manage multiple HS2 projects, even under pressurised circumstances.
Health & Safety:
- Implement and enforce company policies and procedures, ensuring compliance from site teams on HS2 projects.
- Complete project RAMS tailored for HS2 specifications.
- Identify and act upon areas to reduce H&S non-conformities.
- Perform site inspections to ensure MG staff are aligned with HS2 guidelines
Client & Inter-departmental Communication:
- Attend HS2 specific client/site meetings.
- Communicate effectively with other teams and departments to ensure seamless completion of HS2 projects.
- Brief survey teams appropriately on the intricacies of HS2 work involved.
Financial & Commercial Management:
- Track HS2 project expenditure and assist in revenue forecasting.
- Oversee invoicing processes, coordinating trackers to support accounts.
- Promote Value for Money (VFM) in purchasing, ensuring thorough research before placing orders.
- Engage with non-strategic suppliers such as plant hire, materials, etc. specific to HS2 projects.
Team & Resource Management:
- Lead, mentor, and provide training to department staff on HS2 standards and practices.
- Schedule resources effectively, coordinating with other managers and PMs to prevent scheduling conflicts.
- Keep accurate records for performance reviews and raise any concerns to the relevant manager or HoD.
- Delegate tasks appropriately and ensure tasks are well-documented in daily diaries.
Documentation & Quality Control:
- Guarantee all HS2 project documentation is updated, encompassing: Health and safety, Operations, Technical & Quality
Equipment & Resource Management:
- Maintain precise records for all monitoring equipment, delegating as needed.
- Ensure judicious delegation of tasks among team members.
Requirements of the role:
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a senior surveyor in their field (proving competency)
- Health, Safety and Environmental Training – SPA, RAMS, lone working etc
- CSCS/MSite/SMSTS
- Relevant Management Training
- Flexibility to travel nationwide as required by our clients
- Full clean UK manual driving License.
- The right to work in the UK.
- APM Qualification Desirable
- Degree in surveying (or related field) Desirable
