Your role:
We have a very rare, newly created opportunity to join Wesleyan’s award-winning in-house fund management team, which is responsible for managing approximately £7 billion of assets under management. We are seeking an experienced Fund Manager to report into the Head of Investments at a time of exciting change for our organisation. You will be working in a supportive, flexible department that will encourage and enable your development and support your wellbeing.
With joint responsibility for Wesleyan’s global equity and fixed income research in this varied role you will have multi-asset responsibilities. The purpose of this role is to maximise investment returns, subject to appropriate risk controls and fund constraints, whilst assisting in the generation of investment ideas and strategy for the wider team through fundamental research and analysis.
What you’ll be doing:
- Sole Fund Management responsibility (including risk control and liquidity monitoring) for specific investment funds (spanning Life, Pension and Unit Trust funds), which will be monitored for performance purposes against agreed peer groups and benchmarks; investment funds vary from single asset (equities) to mixed asset (fixed income, property and equity), <£10m to >£3bn
- Equity, Fixed Income and Treasury trading duties on behalf of Society investment funds
- Reporting to Executive and Board committees, as required
- Report writing and investment-related communication responsibilities, including marketing requirements, relating to investments, as required
- Shared responsibility for implementing Wesleyan’s approach to Sustainable Investing, for Wesleyan’s trading activities and investment systems and for Wesleyan’s macroeconomic research and associated strategies
We’re looking for:
- Our ideal candidate needs to be adjudged as FCA competent for discretionary investment management and must hold a suitable professional qualification, such as being a CFA charter holder or equivalent.
- You will be an experienced fund manager with a track record of excellent fund performance together with strong communication skills (both verbal and written) and a self-starter with a good eye for detail.
- With more focus on Sustainable Investing, we would ideally like someone who is aware of the implications and impact on the investment world, complementing our mutual structure and our values
