EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
As part of a dynamic shift team, you will operate at Severn Trent's Water Treatment Works in Frankley, Birmingham. Your duties include managing raw water sources, plant processes, onsite sampling, and lab testing to produce high-quality drinking water safely and cost-effectively.
You will participate in a 24/7/365 shift rota, which offers a good work/life balance, rest days, and shift allowances. Participation in a standby rota is required.
You will work alongside maintenance, process, and local management teams using control platforms like SCADA and PRISM. Self-motivation, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn are essential qualities.
The role may require lone working and dynamic problem-solving. We take pride in making a difference for our customers and working collaboratively to resolve issues promptly.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing site performance, including power efficiency, water quality, chemical optimization, and asset availability.
- Monitoring treatment processes via SCADA system.
- Optimizing processes to meet customer demands and water quality standards.
- Managing chemical stocks proactively.
- Reviewing water quality trends and asset performance to prevent failures.
- Conducting on-site testing for process assurance.
This position offers a starting salary of £32,397, with potential to earn up to £15,000 in shift allowances annually.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE
Successful candidates will have:
- Water Treatment Process Knowledge/Experience
- Experience with distribution systems (if relevant)
- Commitment to Health and Safety
- Maintenance knowledge/experience
- Process experience (not necessarily in Water Treatment)
- Experience writing and following systems of work
- HMI / SCADA system skills and data interpretation
You should have excellent organizational skills, the ability to multitask under pressure, a positive attitude, and strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
