If you want to do more because you care, we’d love to talk to you. There really is something for everyone here.

We are seeking a Principal River Restoration Scientist to play a leading role in developing our sustainable water resources strategy. You will lead the technical work to understand the hydro-ecological needs of the rivers across our region, deliver environmental investigations and pilot studies, and develop solutions to help achieve our goals. A key part of your objectives will be to work with other catchment stakeholders to find nature-based solutions that will successfully achieve our long-term sustainable water abstraction goals.

Are you ready to make a significant impact on the ecological health of our rivers?

If so, read on.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

As a Principal River Restoration Scientist, you will play a crucial role in shaping our future, driving business improvement, and making a tangible impact on the environment. Join us and be part of a team that values expertise, collaboration, and continuous development.

Some Of Your Responsibilities Include

  • Understanding the ecological needs of our rivers: Working with our team of hydro-ecologists, hydrologists and hydrogeologists you will shape our sustainable water resources investment strategy. The outputs from your analysis will be crucial to informing our long-term investment plans and our Water Resources Management Plan.
  • Nature based solutions: Lead a workstream that focuses on finding nature-based solutions to the low flow pressures in our catchments. This means spotting opportunities and working with other catchment stakeholders and other sectors to find nature-based solutions.
  • Expert Support & Advice: Lead the specialist support and advice relating to hydro-ecology, river science, abstraction, and hydro-morphology. Lead technical workstreams for environmental investigations and pilot studies and develop options for investment, particularly those relating to nature-based solutions.
  • Technical Delivery: Lead the technical delivery of Severn Trent's statutory commitments for sustainable water abstraction. This means working with the Environmental Agency and other regulators to ensure we identify nature-based solutions to low flow problems. Ensure compliance with Water Framework Directive legal obligations and achieve our regulatory targets
  • Consultant Management: Manage technical work packages delivered by consultants or by other third parties. These work packages will relate to riverine ecology and finding solutions to help address low flow issues.
  • Regulatory Trust: Build trust with regulators by ensuring accurate and timely information is provided to address their queries.
