Job Title: Geo-Environmental Manager (6-Month Contract)
Location: Yorkshire (Hybrid - Office & Site-Based)
Contract Length: 6 Months
Start Date: ASAP
Rate: Competitive, DOE (Outside IR35 Considered)


Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Geo-Environmental Manager for a 6-month contract based in Yorkshire. This role is ideal for an experienced professional with a strong background in waste classification, treatment methodologies, remediation techniques, and contaminated land assessment. You will play a pivotal role in managing complex earthworks and contaminated land projects, working with multidisciplinary teams across both office and site environments.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Manage and oversee geo-environmental site investigations and risk assessments.


  • Classify waste materials in accordance with relevant legislation and guidance (WM3).


  • Provide expert input into the selection and application of remedial treatment techniques.


  • Supervise earthworks and site remediation activities ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.


  • Liaise with stakeholders, regulators, and contractors to ensure project objectives are met.


  • Prepare technical reports, remediation strategies, and verification documentation.


  • Contribute to environmental management plans and sustainability practices.



Essential Skills & Experience:



  • Degree qualified in Environmental Science, Geology, or related discipline.


  • Proven experience in contaminated land investigation and remediation.


  • Strong knowledge of waste classification (incl. hazardous vs non-hazardous) and relevant UK regulations.


  • Familiarity with a range of remedial technologies and treatment techniques.


  • Experience with managing field teams and contractors.


  • Excellent report writing and communication skills.



Desirable:



  • Chartered status (CGeol, CIWEM, or similar)


  • Experience with earthworks validation and materials management plans


  • Understanding of landfill regulations and permitting



Working Arrangement:


  • Hybrid working - flexible split between home, regional office, and site visits within Yorkshire.
