Contract: 6-month contract | Full-time | 5 days on-site

TEC Partners are working on behalf of a key client seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to lead a critical package of work as part of a major on-site energy infrastructure upgrade.

This is a 5-month contract role, based full-time on-site in East Birmingham, supporting a time-sensitive programme of mechanical works within a live healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the M&E Manager to coordinate and manage contractors delivering key mechanical services, including district heating flushing and DHW chlorination.

  • Oversee commissioning activities for plantroom skids including LTHW and DHW systems.

  • Support works related to AHU coil replacements.

  • Liaise with the Trust, main contractor (CEF), and various subcontractors to align and drive delivery of planned works.

  • Scope and manage the design, procurement, and installation of a temporary steam boiler package, including coordination of contractors.

  • Oversee contractor-led Energy Centre Phase 2 works, including steam boiler removal, stack replacement (by others), and installation of new LTHW boilers and associated pipework.

  • Review technical drawings and programmes, providing on-site leadership to ensure deadlines are met.

  • Coordinate with the Trust on logistics, including deliveries, road closures, and on-site movement.

  • Collaborate closely with the Site Manager and Site Engineer to drive daily activities forward and maintain programme momentum.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in managing mechanical construction projects, particularly within energy or plantroom environments.

  • Strong understanding of steam systems, LTHW boilers, plate heat exchangers, and mechanical commissioning processes.

  • Prior experience in hospital or healthcare environments is highly desirable.

  • Able to interpret and review technical drawings and construction programmes.

  • Comfortable managing subcontractors and leading project delivery from the ground.

  • Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure and deliver within tight timeframes.

This is a great opportunity to play a leading role in delivering a critical mechanical package on a high-profile healthcare infrastructure project. Full-time presence on-site (Monday to Friday) is required for the duration of the contract.
