An exciting opportunity has arisen at King Edward VI Handsworth School for Girls for a skilled, compassionate Pastoral Leader to join our Pastoral and Safeguarding team.


The Role of Pastoral Leader Key Stage 3 will take a lead in welfare interventions and act as the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead for Key Stage 3. Working closely with the Assistant Headteacher (Director of Safeguarding and Pastoral Year 7-11), you will support the care, development and education of pupil, to ensure their safety and wellbeing while fostering positive relationships with parents and carers. 


The successful candidate will be based in the Pastoral Hub and will work within a highly integrated and skilled pastoral team, which is led by the Assistant Head Pastoral who is the DSL. The team also comprises of teaching Heads of Year, other Key Stage Pastoral Leaders, a School Social Worker, Pastoral Administrator and Attendance Officer.

Our Academy Trust currently consists of two independent schools, six selective, and five non-selective academies. The King Edward VI Academy Trust Birmingham (“the Academy Trust”) was established in 2017 and is made up of the academies outlined above. The academies receive back office central support services including governance, from the Foundation Office (a central support services function), with several staff being seconded from the Foundation to deliver support services to the Academy Trust and the academies themselves.


Our highly focused five-year strategy aims to build on our existing strengths and heritage and deliver our ambitious growth strategy which aims to bring in a further five academies over the next five years.
