We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Surveyor to join our Damp & Mould team in Birmingham.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Inspecting properties where damp and mould are suspected
- Assessing associated risks
- Collecting evidence using specialist meters and equipment
- Compiling thorough reports with recommendations for remedial action
This is a 6-month secondment opportunity with working hours from Monday to Friday, 8am to 4:30pm.
The Customer
You will be part of one of Fortem’s largest Social Housing contracts, Birmingham City Council. This expanding £50m Repairs & Maintenance, Capital Works, and Retrofit contract is the largest social housing contract in Europe, managing over 22,500 properties including low, medium, and high-rise blocks. This fast-paced and focused contract has been re-awarded three times, reflecting our commitment and success.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Assistant Surveyor will:
- Inspect jobs where damp and mould are suspected
- Assess risks
- Gather evidence using measuring equipment and specialist meters, including taking photographs
- Prepare recommendations for remedial actions
- Create detailed reports
- Update records and systems
- Communicate effectively with clients, customers, and internal teams
What You Will Need
The ideal candidate will have:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Operational experience working with damp & mould
- Experience in report writing
- Experience working directly in customers’ homes
- Experience with testing equipment and meters
