JOB DESCRIPTION

Primary Responsibilities

  • To provide a professional engineering & maintenance support through the application of appropriate expertise, knowledge and experience. Direct management and supervision of the KG Machine Shop, PdM activities, the Maintenance Planning Department, coordinate training activities and monitor/organize insurance compliance.
  • Act as a deputy and “stand-in” for the Maintenance Manager when required.

Key Objectives

  • To focus on the development of the Maintenance Planning Department and the efficiency of Machine Shop.
  • Work with the Engineering and Maintenance Management to generate meaningful KPI’s to track the departments performance and ensure our action plans focus in the necessary areas
  • Management of the Machine Shop and Planning department
  • Ensure that all KG for fills its compliance obligations (e.g. Lifting tackle & Crane inspections, LEV inspections, receiver inspections, etc)
  • Ensure that KG’s Planned Maintenance schedule is accurate and fitting to the needs of the business
  • Assist with shutdown planning
  • Work closely with the Area Engineers and Area Team Leaders to develop, improve and progress maintenance procedures and reliability
  • Support Area Engineers where required
  • Perform as a stand-in for the Maintenance Manager
  • Ensure that there is an accurate training plan for personnel within the department and it is complied with
  • Develop PdM activities and work towards a Condition Based Monitoring methodology
  • Coordination of spares and the refurbishment program in conjunction with area Engineers and Team Leaders
  • Assist the Maintenance Manager with the management and coordination of the apprentice training program

(QUALIFICATIONS Section)

Basic Qualifications

  • HNC/HND (preferably Electrical engineering) from an accredited institution.
  • Experience or a strong desire to work within a manufacturing/production environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to liaise at all levels.
  • Leadership experience.

Preferred Experience

  • Technical knowledge within the areas of heavy engineering and fast paced production environments.
  • Ability to analyze technically complex problems and develop the most appropriate solutions.
  • Ability to work with others (at all levels of the organization) and positively influence a team along with a proven record of implementing change in a engineering and maintenance environment.
