Job Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor (SQS) - Facades Specialist Location: Birmingham, UK Company: Leading Specialist Sub-Contractor Sector: Facades, Cladding, and External Envelope Salary: £60,000 - £70,000
We are currently recruiting for a top-tier specialist sub-contractor, recognised for delivering outstanding facade, cladding, and external envelope solutions on high-profile projects across the UK. Their expertise, attention to detail, and commitment to excellence have made them the exclusive partner of a Tier 1 contractor and other prestigious developers. They are now looking to expand their commercial team with an experienced Quantity Surveyor based in Birmingham.
Role Overview:As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take full commercial ownership of large, complex facade packages, supporting project delivery teams and mentoring junior staff where required. You will be client-facing, commercially astute, and capable of protecting and enhancing margins through expert commercial management and leadership.
Key Responsibilities:Lead the commercial management of major facade and cladding projects from tender award to final account
Manage procurement, subcontract negotiation, contract administration, and payment processes
Prepare, review, and submit interim valuations, variations, and final accounts
Develop and maintain detailed cost plans, budgets, and financial forecasts
Identify, manage, and mitigate commercial and contractual risks
Provide strategic commercial advice to project and company leadership
Liaise with clients, consultants, and external stakeholders to maintain strong working relationships
Mentor and support junior QS team members
Contribute to commercial reporting at board level
Minimum 6-8 years' QS experience, with at least 3 years at Senior QS level
Strong background in facades, cladding, or external envelope projects (essential)
Expert knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts
Excellent negotiation, analytical, and reporting skills
Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple large-scale packages
Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management (or equivalent)
Strong leadership and mentoring abilities
Based in or able to commute to Birmingham; willingness to travel to sites as needed
