Date: 6 days ago
City: Birmingham
Contract type: Full time
Work schedule: Full day

Ready to shape the future of a privately-owned, purpose-driven housebuilder that values continuous improvement and product excellence?
Shanly Homes is looking for an engaging Group Residential Managing Director to be a central Board member to drive the direction and operational performance of our product-focused residential business.
This is a unique opportunity to work closely with the existing Board, including our Chairman, learning from its wealth of experience while bringing a fresh perspective.
About the Group Residential Managing Director role
- Work alongside the Board to set and deliver the company’s strategy, making sure the right plans are put into action, from annual budgets to regional build programmes.
- Lead our talented teams – regional operations, planning, design and more – and enable them to achieve their best.
- Ensure robust Health and Safety policies are adhered to across all operations.
- Take responsibility for driving performance, from securing land opportunities to delivering homes which stand out above our competitors and impress our customers.
- Build and nurture strong relationships with key people, including local authorities, landowners, and agents.
- Lead the recruitment, development, and retention of top talent to achieve the company’s objectives and maintain its values.
About you
- An exceptional leader with experience at a senior level in residential development, ideally as a Managing Director or Land Director.
- A proven track record of successfully managing a large region or smaller housebuilding company.
- Collaborative and approachable, able to build strong relationships with colleagues, suppliers, and external stakeholders to drive successful business outcomes.
- Resourceful and adaptable, finding practical solutions at all levels that align with the company’s vision and legacy.
- A mix of technical ability, attention to detail, customer focus, commercial awareness, and cultural fit.
What we offer in return
- Friendly, supportive and welcoming team.
- A fulfilling culture built on attention to detail and product excellence, where we balance cost-efficiency with quality, prioritise our customer, embrace problem-solving and initiative, uphold a strong work ethic, drive continuous improvement, and remain committed to giving back.
- Enjoy working in an impressive, modern office in the heart of beautiful Beaconsfield Old Town, surrounded by cafés, restaurants, and shops, with excellent road links just off the M40 and a 10-minute walk from Beaconsfield train station.
- A privately-owned business with all the benefits of a financially strong company that has stood the test of time and that prioritises long-term success over short-term gains.
- Competitive salary and car allowance.
- Discretionary annual and long-term bonus schemes.
- Annual leave starting at 25 days to a max of 30 days.
- Enhanced pension scheme through salary exchange.
- Free private medical insurance and life assurance.
- Many wellbeing benefits – free weekly fitness sessions, on demand GP service, gym discounts and access to an Employee Assistance Programme.
- Discount scheme with savings across a range of sectors.
- Social events throughout the year.
