The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced and proactive HR Advisor to join a busy HR team on a fixed-term contract.

This is a varied and hands-on role, with a key focus on coordinating and managing a TUPE transfer as part of a service provision change. You will play an important role in supporting the process from initial planning and due diligence through to employee consultation, transfer and post-transfer integration.

Alongside this, you will provide generalist HR support across the employee lifecycle, advising managers and employees on a range of HR matters, including employee relations, absence management, performance, recruitment, family leave and organisational change.

This position would suit an organised and confident HR professional who can manage competing priorities, build effective relationships and provide practical, commercially aware advice.

Key Responsibilities

TUPE, Redundancy and Organisational Change

  • Coordinate TUPE transfers, supporting the process from planning and due diligence through to consultation and post-transfer activities.
  • Review employee information, identify potential risks and ensure accurate documentation is maintained.
  • Coordinate employee communications and consultation processes.
  • Liaise with transferring organisations, employee representatives, managers and internal departments.
  • Support redundancy, restructuring and wider organisational change programmes.

Generalist HR Advice and Employee Relations

  • Provide practical HR advice and guidance to managers and employees on policies, procedures and employment matters.
  • Manage a varied employee relations caseload, including disciplinary, grievance and appeal cases.
  • Support managers with investigations, meetings, documentation and appropriate outcomes.
  • Coach managers on performance management, capability and employee conduct.
  • Recognise complex or high-risk matters and escalate where appropriate.

Absence, Wellbeing and Performance Management

  • Support managers with short-term and long-term absence management.
  • Coordinate occupational health referrals and medical reports.
  • Advise on return-to-work plans, phased returns and reasonable adjustments.
  • Support performance improvement plans and capability processes.

Family Leave and Flexible Working

  • Advise on maternity, paternity, parental and other family leave arrangements.
  • Manage flexible working requests in line with employment legislation and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and coordinate relevant changes with Payroll.

HR Administration and Systems

  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and HR documentation.
  • Produce HR reports, management information and monthly KPI data.
  • Support HR system administration, including user access and permissions.
  • Ensure employee pay and benefit changes are appropriately authorised and communicated to Payroll.
  • Maintain HR policies, procedures and employee guidance documentation.

Training and Development

  • Support the delivery of HR inductions and manager training.
  • Assist with apprenticeship administration and progress monitoring.
  • Coordinate training bookings, approvals and evaluation.
  • Support performance reviews, skills matrices and personal development plans.

Additional HR Responsibilities

  • Support the administration of employee benefits, pension and healthcare schemes.
  • Build effective working relationships with managers, employees and employee representatives.
  • Contribute to HR projects, process improvements and organisational development.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practice.

About You

To be successful in this position, you will ideally have:

  • Previous experience working as an HR Advisor or in a similar generalist HR role.
  • Hands-on experience supporting or coordinating TUPE transfers.
  • A good working knowledge of employment legislation and HR policies.
  • Experience managing employee relations matters, including disciplinaries and grievances.
  • Confidence advising and coaching managers on HR issues.
  • Experience supporting redundancy, restructuring and organisational change.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and HR information systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to manage a varied workload, prioritise effectively and work to deadlines.
  • A professional, approachable and confidential approach to handling sensitive employee matters.

What's on Offer

  • Competitive salary of £40,000–£44,000, depending on experience.
  • Full-time working hours.
  • Hybrid working, with one day per week working from home.
  • Flexible working hours available.
  • An opportunity to take ownership of a key TUPE project.
  • Exposure to a broad range of generalist HR responsibilities.
  • The opportunity to work closely with senior management and HR colleagues.
  • A varied role within a supportive and professional environment.
  • The opportunity to contribute to organisational change and HR improvements
