Our client is a long established property consultancy in central Birmingham. Over several decades they’ve built a strong reputation across the West Midlands. They offer commercial property management, agency and lease advisory, plus a broad building consultancy service covering building surveys, dilapidations, party wall, project management, construction monitoring and cladding remediation.

The role

As Commercial Director, you’ll lead the whole business. You’ll set its direction, grow its revenue and make it the first name people think of for commercial property and building surveying in the region. You’ll report to the group’s senior leadership, and they’ll give you full support to do it.

What you’ll be doing

• Owning the P&L, budgets and business plan
• Building and delivering a growth strategy across management, agency, lease advisory and building consultancy
• Leading and developing a team of surveyors, property managers and support staff
• Winning new instructions through networking, tenders and referrals, and strengthening relationships with landlord, investor, occupier and corporate clients
• Working with the wider group to integrate the business and turn its national portfolio into surveying and consultancy work
• Keeping standards high across RICS compliance, risk management and service quality

Skills and experience

Essential

• MRICS or equivalent professional standing
• A strong background in commercial property management, building surveying or general practice consultancy
• Experience leading a team, department or office, with responsibility for revenue and profitability
• A track record of winning instructions and growing fee income
• Strong financial literacy and confidence working through management accounts

Desirable

• An established network in the West Midlands property market
• Experience of integration, change or growth, ideally in an acquired or scaling business
