Financial Operations Administrator – Fund Pricing - #2189021
Margetts
The Role
We are hiring within our growing Fund Pricing team. The role involves a range of administrative activities, requiring accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to work with numbers.
The Administrator role would suit a recent graduate, or someone moving industry, who is looking to begin their career in financial services. Prior experience isn’t required, but you will need to possess a high attention to detail, be highly numerate, and have a desire to learn about a range of technical areas.
The Fund Pricing team (named NAV Construction internally) is responsible for calculating the daily Net Asset Value of UK investment funds. This involves collecting public data to support the valuation of a portfolio of assets, posting transactions within the fund pricing systems, preparing and sending daily reports to third parties, and supporting the reconciliation of bank accounts.
The successful candidate will need to be comfortable working with numbers, following established procedures, and maintaining a high level of accuracy. The role involves recurring processes, so consistency, organisation and a high level of attention to detail are essential to ensure work is completed accurately and within daily deadlines.
However, this isn't simply about following the established procedures. We're looking for someone who is naturally inquisitive, enjoys understanding how things work, and who wants to develop their knowledge of investment funds and the wider financial services environment over time.
You'll have the opportunity to build specialist knowledge, complete professional qualifications, take on increasing responsibility, and develop a longer-term career within the business.
Key responsibilities include
- Following established procedures and completing tasks accurately and within required deadlines.
- Preparing data to support the maintenance of accurate financial and investment records across a range of Funds.
- Processing financial transactions and other fund-related information.
- Checking and verifying financial data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
- Carrying out regular reconciliations, investigating discrepancies and escalating issues where necessary.
- Identifying errors, investigating anomalies, and escalating issues appropriately.
- Producing routine reports and providing information to internal and external stakeholders.
- Developing an understanding of the team's processes, the wider business and the reasons behind the work undertaken.
- Working flexibly with colleagues to manage changing priorities and support the overall workflow of the team.
- Participate in the culture of on-going process enhancements and reviews, adding value to the reporting and outputs produced by the department.
A successful candidate is likely to possess:
- A degree in a related field.
- Good numerical ability, with GCSE Maths at grade B/6 or above (or equivalent).
- Confidence using excel and other Microsoft applications.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work, with the ability to maintain accuracy when handling repetitive tasks.
- A logical approach to problem-solving, with the ability to identify discrepancies and investigate issues.
- The ability to follow established processes and procedures consistently, while recognising when something doesn't look right.
- A willingness to learn, ask questions and develop an understanding of the reasons behind the processes they undertake.
- Good organisational skills, with the ability to manage workloads, meet deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.
- A proactive and positive approach, with the motivation to develop new skills and take on additional responsibilities over time.
The company supports a policy of continued professional development and relevant qualifications. Employees are expected to increase their knowledge through on-the-job training and professional qualifications.
The package includes discretionary bonuses, company employee-matched pension contributions, death in service benefit and private healthcare.
