Assistant Building Surveyor, Birmingham

£37,000 to £45,000 + benefits | Hybrid | Flexible hours

A long-established, privately owned multidisciplinary consultancy in Birmingham is looking to appoint an Assistant Building Surveyor to its growing building surveying team. It’s a great opportunity for an Assistant Building Surveyor who wants varied work, plenty of ownership and full support towards chartership.

You’d join a close-knit team that sits alongside project managers, quantity surveyors and principal designers. The work is national and genuinely varied, from hotels, new builds and extensions to insolvency work and large commercial buildings.

The Assistant Building Surveyor role

• Condition surveys and defect diagnosis
• Dilapidations, party wall and landlord and tenant work
• Writing specifications and schedules of work
• JCT contract administration and delivering projects on site

The ideal Assistant Building Surveyor

• Around 3 years’ post-degree experience
• Working towards your APC or recently sat it
• Confident, client-facing, with strong writing skills
• Full driving licence, your own car and happy to travel nationally
• AutoCAD, NEC or principal designer awareness is a bonus

Assistant Building Surveyor salary and benefits

• £37,000 to £45,000 depending on experience
• 25 days’ holiday, pension, healthcare and life insurance
• RICS fees paid and full chartership support
• Flexible starts between 8 and 10am, with an earlier finish on Fridays
• One day a week from home after probation
• Car allowance considered
